The problem

Launch a credible UAE retail brand from zero against overseas dropshippers, in a market where buyers want cash on delivery and proof the seller is real.

What was built

A Shopify store carrying 200+ SKUs across beauty, skincare, haircare, fragrance, pet care, kids and electronics. Custom theme sections, cart and checkout UX, cash on delivery plus Tabby and Tamara BNPL, an editorial blog, WhatsApp support, and marketplace storefronts on noon.com, Amazon.ae and Carrefour UAE.

The engineering decision

A TikTok creator-review merchandising module that pairs independent creator videos with the exact product, plus a trust layer that publishes the Dubai trade licence, in-person collection and transparent delivery on every page. Marketed with Meta Ads across the UAE and GCC.

What it did not do

Those visits produced almost no add-to-carts and no orders. Optimising for the cheapest possible click buys tappers, not buyers — a AED 0.03 click is a warning, not a win.

What changed because of it

Two changes mid-flight. Pangle — 28% of the traffic and the low-quality half of it — was switched off on day three, so budget only reaches the real For You feed. Then the optimisation goal moved from clicks to engaged sessions, deliberately trading 1,200–1,600 visits a day for a target of 200–500 that actually browse.

What it did not do

None of this proves a sale. No Meta Pixel was installed on the store, so these are link clicks rather than confirmed purchases — and two thirds of the budget pointed at marketplace listings on Amazon.ae, noon and Carrefour, where a first-party pixel cannot follow the buyer at all.

What changed because of it

Budget was concentrated rather than spread evenly: 66% went to the single best-performing ad, which returned 68% of the results at the lowest cost per result in the account. The missing pixel then became the next piece of work — measurement before more spend, which is the order the August tracking build followed.
